Teacher Training Program

Kevin A. Bowen, President and Owner of Pilates Miami/Pilates Education Group began working with Michele Larsson and Core Dynamics Pilates in 1998 to offer teacher training and continuing education workshops based on historical Pilates in the Miami area. In 2004 Anna Alvarez, Core Dynamics graduate and owner of The Pilates Studio Miami Shores joined Core Dynamics as a Teacher Trainer. Core Dynamics has trained and developed many successful Pilates Teachers both in the Greater Miami area, nationally and Internationally.

Kevin and Anna now continue the same high quality Teacher Training Program—based on the Core Dynamics model—through The Pilates Education Group.

The Pilates Education Group (PEG) Pilates Teacher Training Program
The PEG Pilates Teacher Training Program places its focus on developing trainees to embody the Pilates method, understand human movement and to teach the Pilates method correctly to a wide variety of clientele versus just teaching the exercises or leading classes. PEG offers a unique "Boutique" program based on historical Pilates, with small class size, individual attention, mentorship experiences and highly qualified affiliate teacher trainers.

The PEG Teacher Training Program consists of 4 hands on weekend educational workshops that focus on a comprehensive approach to professional teaching skills.

Trainees must also participate in self-directed study and mentorship to develop skills and knowledge for teaching group mat classes and individual Pilates lessons.

As a PEG Teacher Training Program student you will learn the concept behind the system of exercises, the historical Pilates exercise repertoire, seeing and correcting posture faults and movement limitations in your clients, adapting and progressing exercises and so much more!

Weekend Intensives Overview
Weekend I - Pre-Pilates (Gentry) exercises, Level I on Mat, Reformer, Trap Table, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, Magic Circle. Ped-o-Pul, Pilates History, Eve Gentry History, Pilates Principles, Pilates Movement Principles.

Weekend II - Level II exercises on Mat, Reformer, Trap Table, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, Magic Circle, Ped-o-Pul, Client Assessment, Conscious Competence Learning Matrix.

Weekend III - Level III exercises on Mat, Reformer, Trap Table, Wunda Chair, SpineCorrector, Ladder Barrel, Magic Circle, Ped-o-pul, Teaching Skills, Program Design.

Weekend IV - Level IV exercises on Mat, Reformer, Trap Table, Wunda Chair, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, Magic Circle, Ped-o-Pul, Pre-cautions and Contraindications for Pilates Programming, Reassessment, Pilates professional practice.

The Pilates Education Group is proud to continue its affiliation with Core Dynamics Pilates and the other Core Dynamics affiliate studios including Moving Breath in Tempe, Az, Well Spring Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, and Position Red in Chicago, Il. Students may participate for one of their weekend intensives in one of these high caliber Pilates Teacher Training studios. All weekend hours are Fridays 12:00 - 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am - 5:00pm.

A $200.00, 200.00 euros deposit is required to register for each Weekend. For more information or to register please contact the studio directly via
phone or fax. Please be sure to check regularly as we will be adding dates
and locations to the program for 2009.

Cost

Cost Level 1/Level IV: $850 (700.00 euros), / Cost Level 2, 3: $750 (700.00 euros) (each weekend)
Total Cost of Workshops: $3,200 usd, 2800.00 euros
Written & Practical Exam Fee: $250.00 (250.00 euros)
TOTAL COST: $3450.00 (3050.00 euros)

(The program does NOT include apprentice fees. Apprenticing at the Pilates Miami studio is $1,000, which includes: use of the studio, observation time, special discounted rates on private sessions and classes, complimentary mat classes (based on availability), and open gym hours.)
